It's the time of year again... where you can let your worries go, strip your boring everyday clothes off, and run free without fear of judgment from the outside world. Sounds magical, doesn't it? If you are an outfit junkie, costume diva, and free spirit like myself; Burning Man is the ultimate dream.
Seven days of unleashing your inner Goddess.
A place to truly let your wildest dreams and fantasies run free.
Costume planning for Burning Man doesn't have to be a nightmare, nor break the bank (though it sure would be easy to!). You're going to find hundreds of sites that can charge anywhere from $20 to $2000 dollars for ornate beautiful pieces, but... if you haven't won the lottery, found a sugar daddy, or ballin' on a budget like me... then let me honest I'm working OT just to afford to to pay for the trip itself. So let me teach you my ways and help you look fabulous and still have a little cushion when you come home! Ask friends if they have been before or have unique costume pieces (if they have been to burning man I'm sure they have a costume bin you can have a look at) Thrift stores and consignment shops should become your new best friend, these places are full of unique treasure at a reasonable price. You will want to make sure you get a heavy fur coat for at night, I found mine at a thrift store for $20! Check out Ebay for marching band hats (~$30 USD) that you can customize cheaply yourself. I like to search Mad Max, Steampunk, and post-apocaliptic for outfit inspo, designing and all the prep-work that goes into making the outfit truly an expression of yourself is all part of the fun.
