Everyday we face a barrage of messages and images from the media and society telling us who we should be, what we should do, and how we can get there. Leading us to believe that once we obtain #perfection we will no longer feel #inadequate. . We live in a world of #bullies, people pleasing, and wearing mask to hid who we truly are. . When will we ever be enough? . None of us are perfect and the quest for perfection is exhausting and unrelenting. I am deeply sorry you felt this pain and shame, even more so if you are carrying it around today. . With the disillusion of perfectionism portrayed by the media we learn to hide our struggles and protect ourselves from #shame, judgement, criticism, and blame by seeking safety in pretending and perfection. . Our power lies within owning our story. Stop pretending, quit trying to be who everyone else thinks you should be. Stop worrying about the possibility of failing and what everyone else thinks. . Give yourself permission to stop proving your worth. . Our #imperfections are what connect us to each other and to our humanity. . Our vulnerabilities are not weaknesses; they are powerful reminders to keep our hearts open to the reality that we are all in this together. . Focus on cultivating courage, connection, and compassion to step into who you actually are.💞
Why I stopped trying to prove myself.
